Its name is also derived from two letters (Hurrof Al Muqattat) and Allah
knows the best about its meaning. SubhanAllah! Indeed, Allah is the Knower
of All things. This Surah is filled with hidden treasures that one attains
by reciting and memorizing them.
๐ 1. “Everything has a heart, and the heart of the Quran is
Surah Yasin; whoever reads it, it is as if he has read the Quran ten
times.”
๐ 2. “Whoever reads Surah Yasin in one night will
be forgiven in the morning.”
๐ 3. “Whoever recites Surah Yaseen at night
seeking Allah’s approval, Allah would forgive him.”
๐ 4. “Whoever continues to read it every night
then dies, will die as a shaheed (martyr).”
๐ 5. “Whoever enters the graveyard and reads
Surah Yasin, their (punishment) will be reduced that day, and he will have
Hasanaat (reward) equal to the number of people in the graveyard.”
The Prophet (PBUH) said:“Whoever reads Surah Yaseen seeking Allah’s pleasure, his past sins will be forgiven. So recite it over the dying among you.” (Jami’ Al Sagheer, 5785)
Undoubtedly, there is a blessing in every Surah of the Quran that we do
not even know. We can never imagine the blessings and rewards that Surah
Yaseen can bring upon us. It is important for us to recite a lot of the
Quran as stated in the Hadith:
The prophet (PBUH) also said:“The one who was devoted to the Quran will be told (on the Day of Resurrection) ‘Recite (the Quran) and ascend (in the ranks) as you used to recite when you were in the world. Your rank will be at the last verse you recite.’” (Abu Dawood and jami –At-Tirmidhi).
SubhanAllah! Such is the importance. And Surah Yaseen is filled with the
glory of Allah, his Hidaayah, and Mercy.
Another Hadith that glorifies the importance of Surah Yaseen
is:
“Allah recited Ta-Ha and Yaseen one thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth. When the angels heard the Qur’an they said, ‘Glad tidings to the nation to whom this will be revealed, and glad tidings to the hearts that will bear this, and glad tidings to the tongues that will speak these words.’ (Sunan Ad-Darimi, 3280)
Lessons In Surah Yaseen
Surah Yaseen tells us about the story of three (2+1) prophets that were
sent by Allah SWT. But the whole city denied them except one person.
He
called them toward the truth with courage. However, the people of that
city killed him. However, Allah admitted him to paradise for his
sacrifice. SubhanAllah.
Moral: This story teaches us that we might be alone on the
path of Allah. But we should not lose courage but stand firmly.
It’s
because the reward from Allah will be unimaginably great. It also teaches
us that this life is a mere test and it’s the afterlife that’s our final
abode.
It also makes us ponder upon the fact that Allah is so Merciful that He
sent not one, two, but three prophets for guidance.
Yet, the people of
that city preferred falsehood over truth. Hence, we should make strong
connections with Allah SWT, realize his signs, and always be on the path
of faith.
Allah (SWT) says in the Holy Quran: “We send down (stage by stage) in the
Qur’an that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe: to the
unjust it causes nothing but loss after loss.” (17:82).
In the previous Ayah, Allah (SWT) teaches us that one of the great benefits
of reading the Qur’an is receiving His mercy and healing our souls from sins
and spiritual diseases.
Also, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) mentions that some
Surahs are meant to be read for these aims. One of them is Surah Yaseen
(chapter: 36).
